After a few days on the coast, you are taken by private road transfer to Delaire Graff Estate. While here you visit the historic Cape Dutch town of Stellenbosch for its culture, architecture and boutiques. You sample the world-class food and wine characteristic of the area. More active family members take a horse ride through the vines while others attend an outdoor performance of music or theatre. When not otherwise occupied, you relax by the pool, enjoying the balmy climate. Elegant and engaging activities abound.
The next destination is an exclusive private game reserve. Transfer by private air charter takes you directly to Singita Castleton. Here you stay in individual cottages that can accommodate the whole family. Extensive high-end facilities include a vast garden, swimming pool, wine cellar, gym, tennis court and spa treatment room. Your family relaxes together in the courtyard, gathers around the traditional ‘boma’ or meet in the country-style kitchen for meals; all overlooking a waterhole where animals regularly drink.
Days are filled with game drives in luxury 4WD vehicles with delightful touches. You compete with one another to be the first to see the coveted Big 5: elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard. A nature walk with the resident conservationist gives you all an inspiring journey into the island’s ecosystem, and a deeper understanding of the role of conservation.
A treasure trove of nature, you may be lucky enough to see the rare Tenebaum beetle, unique to Fregate Island, and the precious Wrights Gardenia, the first to flower in the Seychelles. On a night-time safari, the sharp-eyed amongst you might find the rare fluorescent scorpion. Whales and dolphins can be spotted in the Indian Ocean from your villa terrace.
Keen young scientists assist the team in their fieldwork, searching for emerging sea turtle hatchlings or checking nest boxes for eggs and chicks, or participate in our Tortoise Adoption programme. The Castaway Kids’ Club creates an especially magical experience for the smaller kids, showing them natural phenomenon like the smoking fungi and how to move a giant tortoise by scratching its back.
