This luxurious tented camp in the heart of Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta sits on the northeastern tip of Chief’s Island. Shaded by huge indigenous trees, each of the nine spacious guest tents has spectacular views over the floodplains and the abundant game which traverse this pristine wilderness all year round. The sitting room, separate bedroom and bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers and bathtub with copper and brass fittings all contribute to the Wilderness ideal of responsible luxury.
Mombo was completely rebuilt in 2018 to maintain the traditions and history of the camp, as well as to celebrate the Wilderness group’s conservation vision. The new, 100% solar-powered design maintains the integrity of its pristine environment through the use of natural materials and minimal human footprint. Since 2001, Mombo’s primary purpose has been to facilitate a pioneering rhino conservation programme which has seen the reintroduction of black and white rhino into the wilds of Botswana; a significant conservation milestone.
