The pangolin, one of the more rare and elusive creatures on the continent, inspired the recent redesign and rebuild of this beautiful timber lodge set beneath a cool forest canopy of wild palms and gnarled fig trees. Eight intimate suites raised on stilts are designed to mimic the shape of weaver’s nests, with folding doors opening onto a private deck and plunge pool. The airy interior brings in the riverine forest setting with glorious views of the wetlands and savanna beyond.
The main lodge area features a spectacular bar and viewing deck (perfect for romantic dinners) on the higher level, with sunken lounges and quiet decks below. Other facilities include a shaded swimming pool, well-stocked safari shop and a lantern-lit boma for moments when you aren’t exploring this wetland wilderness on guided game drives or bush walks. Wildlife in this area is prolific, with wild dog, lion and leopard often being spotted.
