The peak period to visit Zimbabwe is during the dry, winter months of May to October when game viewing is at its best and the Victoria Falls are at their zenith. The rainy season occurs in summer, between November and March, although temperatures stay generally warm. Some safari lodges are seasonal and close over the rainy summer months.

Our insights on Zimbabwe

  • If you’re looking for a warm and welcoming stay in Africa, Zimbabwe is a wonderful option. Home to the friendliest people in Africa, lots of guests give excellent reviews of locals’ highly positive attitude toward tourists.

  • The Zimbabwe Ruins were once a great medieval African city, built centuries ago with giant granite blocks with no mortar or adhesive. Explore the country’s history more by visiting Khami Ruins, Danamombe Ruins, and The BaTonga Community Museum.

  • Victoria Falls is perhaps Zimbabwe’s most famous attraction. After the rainy season, Mosi-oa-Tunya is in full flood and provides a spectacle that can be seen for miles around. If you don’t like getting wet, make sure you rent or bring a raincoat when you visit the falls, as the spray can be intense!

  • The Hwange area is a must for elephant enthusiasts. Up to a thousand have been counted visiting a single waterhole. At night, enjoy a ‘sleep-out’ platform where you can drift off underneath the Milky Way and wake up at sunrise.

  • Matabo is treasure trove of rock art. Some 3 000 paintings are scattered among its massive boulders and rocky outcrops and are worth a visit.

  • One of the biggest reasons to visit Zimbabwe is its outstanding commitment to tailored, private and exclusive experiences.

Guest Feedback
"Our experiences were overwhelmingly wonderful and we will treasure so many memories forever. We were extremely lucky to see so many animals that are not easy to see including, leopard, cheetah and the African painted dogs – what made it so authentic was watching the trackers and guides enjoy the surprise of many experiences with us."
