Benguerra Island Family Escape

The family landed in Vilanculos in Mozambique and were greeted by a representative from the resort to assist with their transfer via helicopter to the Benguerra Island Resort – their base for their time away. An aqua-playground bathed in brilliant watercolour hues, the Bazaruto Archipelago is a protected marine reserve and national park forming part of a protected marine park consisting of five idyllic islands: Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, Santa Carolina and Bangue. These exquisitely beautiful islands feature some of Africa’s best beaches as well as a number of large freshwater lakes, providing ideal nesting habitats for black-winged flamingos. Just offshore the family could explore a kaleidoscope of colourful corals teeming with exotic marine life – whale sharks, dolphins, turtles and dugongs. Deep-sea fishing and sailing were also on offer, while the history lovers and culture enthusiasts in the family visited the picturesque lighthouse and Vilankulo Ruins, built in the Great Zimbabwe tradition.

After a leisurely breakfast at the resort, the family checked out and hopped onto a helicopter transfer back to the mainland at Vilanculos Airport where they caught their Airlink flight to Johannesburg International Airport and their drive home.
