Forget lunch dates! Beverley, Caroline and their daughters took mother-daughter bonding to a whole new level. Flying in from Cape Town, the group landed in Botswana to explore the Okavango Delta waterways by boat, mokoro and threw in some glorious Big 5 safari drives for good measure.
Arriving at Maun Airport on their first day, the group cleared customs and immigration, collected their baggage, then met a representative who guided them onward to their 20-minute shuttle flight to Chief’s Camp. This exclusive safari camp comprises top-notch accommodation on iconic Chief’s Island – the largest in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. Twelve secluded bush pavilions with thatched roofs are located in the Moremi Game Reserve with views of the Piajio floodplain and plenty predator sightings, as the area is thick with game.
Twice-daily game drives took place in six-seater 4x4s after which the ladies were welcomed back to Chief’s Camp with refreshing hot towels and cool drinks. Chief’s Camp is well laid-out, with a swimming pool, open-plan bar, safari shop for last-minute essentials and tranquil views over Piajio. Thanks to soul-stirring perspectives from the private pavilions, the lounge deck and their dinner tables, these moms and daughters never missed the thrill of a viewing. The wellness studio was the perfect sanctuary for massages, facials, scrubs and nail treatments during the sunny afternoons between delicious lunches and late-afternoon game drives.
After three magical nights and a jam-packed safari mini-break, the ladies caught their light aircraft shuttle back to Maun Airport in time for their return flight to Cape Town International Airport.
