With plenty of game fish off the coast, and a variety of excellent locations, South Africa is a dream destination for serious fishermen. It’s off the Cape Town coast near where the warm Agulhas current from the Indian Ocean meets the cold Benguela current of the South Atlantic Ocean at Cape Point that the best game fishing is found. Keen anglers will find an abundance of Yellowfin and Longfin Tuna as well as Yellowtail, Dorado, Atlantic Big Eye Tuna and Broadbill Swordfish. Mozambique also offers some of the world’s finest fishing and some incredibly challenging big game fishing, particularly in the deep waters of the Mozambique Channel. Here, you’ll find Marlin, Sailfish and other large game fish weighing over 1,000 pounds (454kg). Of course, to protect natural resources, a catch and release system is encouraged.
