“A few years ago my family and I went on a West Coast road trip, driving three hours from Cape Town to Langebaan, where we decided to go sea kayaking. It started off very well; the weather was great and the current was perfect. My cousin and I shared a kayak and started paddling ahead of the rest of the family. After a while we had covered quite a distance and decided to stop and wait for the rest of the group, which is when I noticed bubbles bursting on the surface just next to the kayak. I started to panic as the bubbles started getting bigger and closer, and suddenly a big, grey Cape fur seal jumped right over the front of the kayak. I almost jumped right out of my skin and I’m fairly sure my heart stopped for a second from the fright but it was an amazing experience and definitely one of the most memorable moments of my life.”
